WHAT:       “Lucy and Other Ape-man stories”
WHERE:     Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 2350 Leigh Avenue, San Jose
CONTACT: 408 420-3871

Come hear an empowering presentation using Powerpoint slides and a variety of bones, including a real human skeleton that will aid in defending against ape-men and other evolutionary dogma.  Learn why Lucy was an ape, not ape-man.

Bring friends who need to know how to defend their faith, as well as those who think that evolution is supported by true science.

Dr. Vernon W. Nellis, who holds degrees in both science and theology, has been active with Calvary Chapel Mountain View for about a decade, with jail and  convalescent and retirement home ministries for about 4 decades, and has conducted seminars on various Creation vs evolution topics.

None of this truly matters unless we surrender to Jesus Christ. Attendees will be given an opportunity (challenged) to do so.

Come hear Ting speak to us in October. You won't be disappointed.

WHO:  Dr. Ting Wang, Youth Pastor
Korean Central Presbyterian Church,
Daly City, CA

TOPIC:  “Dying to Live”

“The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Aside from infuriating grammarians (for “wages” is plural and “is” is the singular), this biblical concept speaks volumes for our understanding of God’s plan for his people —

Did sin lead to death? Did life lead to sin?  Life lead to death? Vice versa?  Does it matter?  Join us for a stimulating presentation and discussion of the biblical understanding of the connection between sin, death, and life.

The Perspicuity of Genesis
Some people, when the hear the term perspicuity, think immediately of the last time they sweat too much while exercising. But what does perspicuity mean, and why is it important?

To define perspicuity, let us ponder the celebrated words of Luther in his timeless classic, The Bondage of the Will: “If you speak of the internal clearness, no man sees one iota in the Scriptures, but he that hath the Spirit of God. . . .

If you speak of the external clearness, nothing whatever is left obscure or ambiguous; but all things that are in the Scriptures, are by the Word brought forth into the clearest light, and proclaimed to the whole world.” In other words, Scripture speaks about the creation of all things in the “clearest light.”

Please join us as we apply the doctrine of the perspicuity of Scripture to the early chapters of Genesis.

Fish-eating-a-fish fossil. Photoshopped? April 18, 2010

I had never seen this fossil before. I still haven’t. But I saw a picture of it last month in a presentation and decided to look it up.

No doubt folks all over will say it was photoshopped, rigged in some way, anything but what it is – evidence of sudden and immediate death of the fish doing the eating and the other fish who was no doubt trying to stay alive. Good luck with that exercise in futility, eh?

How is this fossil to be explained? I mean, the fish eating side of the equation must have kept his/her mouth open for a long long time. And the being eaten side had to stay in place, too. Or is there a more reasonable explanation?

And while we’re at it, why are there marine fossils found up on top of mountains?

Oh, and another question. You have heard it said that there is not enough water for a world-wide flood. I learned that if all the mountains fell into the sea and the below sea-level valleys were filled in, there would be enough water to cover the entire planet to 2.7 km high. Hmm…sounds to me like there was enough water for a world-wide flood, no?

And we have forensic evidence of such an event to boot?
